Jazz and blues are what might be termed the ‘ancestral home’ of the organ trio, the latter personified by the Delvon Lamarr organ trio, while arguably the prime exponents in the field of jazz are the trio of Peter Bernstein, LarryGoldings and Bill Stewart. Unlike Scotland’s football supporters however, it’s a sad fact that Scottish jazz seems not to have explored the international stage to the extent that its musicians truly deserve. If evidence were required for such a contention,Prime would not, for one minute,be out of place in the company of the two trios mentioned above.
